Cupping
How it works
Cupping is one of the many modalities we use in the clinic for orthopedic conditions and even some internal conditions.
Cupping has been widely used for pain and tightness of the upper, mid and lower back. The cups literally lift up the skin creating space between the muscles and the fascia. It also breaks up any blood stagnation that is beneath the skin causing tightness or discomfort. When that is broken up, new blood and oxygen move to the area and restore circulation. This results in relief of pain, tightness and discomfort.
Cupping is also used in cases of depression, for detoxification and for lung congestion.
We use Japanese suction cups in the clinic. Cupping may be stationary or you may receive sliding cup therapy. Not every condition can be treated with cupping. We consider the individual and medical history before engaging in any type of therapy.
